...the blog...
April 23, 2008

Ok so it begins. I, as a 56 year old chef and owner will enter further into the 21st century and begin to add a new dimension to my restaurant and your experience by blogging. My sons would be proud...until maybe they read it.

So why a blog? Well I am in this business because of a unsaitiated passion since my chidhood. I have much to share about my business and what you might expect when going to a restaurant.

When I was 12 or so I used to concoct elaborate sandwiches knowing that one day there would be a "Jim's Sandwhich Shoppe". Imagine, since I was 12! Since then, I have to add the "Shoppe" never came to be, but Hanna, my third restaurant as an owner did.

My passion lies in a simple quest to please the people that are here to relax and enjoy a meal. Through the years I have strived for the Emeril status, the Hot of Haute Cuisine...but have finally settled with a casual approach to finesse.

I truly sicken when I witness guests, whether here or in other restaurants, attempt to hold them to self imposed standads. It is sad, truly.

A restaurant is meant to relax, nourish, entertain and provide a respite from the sameness of the stove at home and a full refrigerator with nothing in it.

Unfortunately my passion fails me when a parent without patience attempts to "dine" with kid in tow and their best attempt is cracker shrapnel decorating the radius of the table.

There is an elemnt of this business that is hard to define that truly intoxicates. Probably best to accept the hazards of this sort of addiction and provide you with a truly memorable experience sans crackers.

By the way...you can not learn to truly cook on MTV.
